Composites Centre Extension

NORCO - October 10, 2018 - 0 comments

We have expanded our Composites facility to ensure that we meet our customers’ growing requirements. The new extension has increased the capacity of our dedicated advanced Composites Centre from 13,000 sq. ft to over 21,000 sq. ft.

The site now has 4 overhead cranes in total. The original crane area consists of 2 overhead cranes with a maximum hook height of 8.2 meters and a maximum load of 8 tons each. The new crane area has an additional 2 overhead cranes with a maximum hook height of 5.1 meters and a maximum load 5 tons each.

We have 2 large ovens in place with a maximum temperature of 200°c that measures the following dimensions:

  • 6m deep x 5.2m wide x 3m high
  • 9m deep x 5m wide x 2m high

Also, we facilitate an autoclave which dimensions are 1.5m diameter x 3.5m deep. Maximum 6 bar pressure (approx. 90psi) and temperature to 200°c.

Looking to further improve our Composite Centre, an environmentally controlled lay-up area to produce pre-preg components is to be installed. Size approx. 100m² x 2.5m high. A mezzanine stores area above the lay-up area is also part of the extension plan with the same 100m² area.

In addition, a temporary building is to be erected on the outside of the SW side of the large crane bay. Size approx. 90m² x 2.5m high with dust and particle extraction. The building is planned to be temporary to make it easy to move if we decide to extend our Composites Centre again.
