Composite Technician

NORCO are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Composite Laminators to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment & be responsible for Lay-up, repair bonding/assembly of composite components. using Pre-Preg, Resin Infusion & Hand Lay-up. This role involves working with a range of advanced composite materials & processes to produce high-quality composite components for various industries, including Aerospace, Marine, Defence & Automotive.

Full-Time (40 hours per week)

• Lay-up:
  • Perform a variety of lamination techniques to create high-quality composite components.
  • Use of Polyester, Vinyl Ester & Epoxy Resins.
  • Use of Carbon & Glass fibres both dry & pre-impregnated.
  • Ensure proper curing of materials by using ambient cure, ovens, autoclaves.
• Assembly:
  • Trim & drill composite components using jigs, fixtures & scribes.
  • Dry-Fit & align composite assemblies.
  • Prep & bond composite & metallic components using appropriate methods and adhesives, whilst maintaining required tolerances.
• QHSE:
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used in line with accredited quality systems.
  • Perform in-process checks as required.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
• Equipment and Maintenance:
  • Operate hand & power tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with engineering staff and other team members to understand project requirements and specifications.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.

• Education:
  • Minimum requirements GCSE’s (A*-C) in Maths & English.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in composite hand lay-up, Resin Infusion or Pre-Preg manufacture within the marine, automotive, defence, aerospace or other quality driven industries.
  • Experience working with various carbon fibre, glass fibre, foam/Nomex core and resin systems is highly desirable.
• Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
  • Proficient in using hand tools & power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications & detailed manufacturing documentation.
  • Able to follow traceability & record keeping procedures.
