Quality Engineer

THE ROLE:

This new role within the Company will be working on our defence contracts and will be part team devising, establishing and maintaining our quality system to AS9100 D.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help establish & set up the facilities to AS9100 incorporating customer specific requirements & MOD Standards
  • Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers IAW.
  • Control and undertaking of FAIR’s
  • Help set Norco standards for Quality.
  • Devise quality control documentation i.e. control plans, inspection plans and inspection sign-off documentation.
  • Make sure that manufacturing or production processes meet the required standards.
  • Product Inspection & quality sign off.
  • Internal auditing
  • Auditing of suppliers.
  • Control of calibration system.
  • Produce & review documentation packs.
  • Look at ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Review & control the non-conformance process.
  • Define quality procedures in conjunction with QM & operating staff.
  • Set up and maintain controls and documentation procedures.
  • Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and produce statistical reports.
  • Measure performance and identify any areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements, feeding the info back in to the IMS for continuous improvement.
  • Assess the effectiveness of changes made.
  • Use relevant quality tools and make sure managers and other staff understand how to improve the
  • Carry out toolbox talks & training for production staff with regards to quality processes & procedures.
  • Experience with MSA and Gauge R&R
  • Daily / weekly / monthly quality reporting upwards & downwards.

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AS9100 Lead auditor
  • 2 – 5 years in a Quality Engineer position or similar.
  • Lean and 5S experience.
  • Experience with MSA and Gauge R&R
  • An understanding of composites.
  • Experience of performing audits.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Positive and professional attitude with the ability to work well independently.
  • Proactive with the ability to identify process improvement and implement any changes.

DESIRABLE:

  • Previous experience in an Engineering role.
  • CQI Qualification.
  • Report writing including CMM report analysis
