Senior Project Engineer

Dorset Innovation Park, Winfrith, Dorset, DT2 8ZB. This is a beautiful part of the country in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck near the town of Poole.

This position requires all candidates to be eligible to live and work in the UK and must be capable of achieving a valid UK Government security vetting clearance, candidates must also hold a sole UK British passport (no dual nationalities). Norco will guide and assist with the SC process once employment is agreed and provide ongoing support and training in this field. Hybrid working is not able to be offered for this role.

Norco Composites are one of the UK’s largest and fastest growing Composite manufacturers. Our complete moulding service includes everything from design for manufacture, to 5 axis CNC patterns and moulds, through to the final manufactured product and assembly.

We focus on manufacturing large complex composite structures for companies primarily in the defence market as well as a variety of other markets, from prototype aerospace and automotive parts to medical and leisure marine. We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our business and be instrumental in our future growth as a business.

Senior project engineers are responsible for all activities that are carried out to successfully complete an assigned project. The role is varied and requires someone of a practical nature with very good attention to detail, and preferably experience with quality processes such as AS9100 or similar. A good base knowledge of composites would be an advantage but not critical.

The role would report into the Engineering Manager of the Winfrith site, but working closely with all members of the wider engineering and quality team.

• Works directly with key customers and internal manufacturing teams to ensure progress of a project through its lifecycle.
• Directs and participates in engineering activities, including design for manufacture, tool and jig design, engineering reviews, and work order preparation.
• Lead and co-ordinate projects in accordance with an AS9100 quality management system.
• Ensure materials are made available in a timely manner, either through direct procurement or delegating procurement activities.
• Interacts frequently with the shopfloor to ensure engineering support is provided to the manufacturing teams.
• Ensure projects are well planned and detailed with BoM and Routings in place for Production and Procurement to plan accordingly.
• Monitors and reports project financial performance.
• Occasional assistance with the preparation of new customer bids.

This is not an exhaustive list of duties, you may be required to perform different tasks as required by the business’s overall objectives.

• Minimum 6 years + proven experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.
• Proficient with the use of CAD, preferably Siemens NX, Solidworks or Rhino.
• HNC or Degree qualification in a related field.
• Proven track record working with composites, with prepreg experience desirable but not essential.
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to manage fast moving complex engineering projects.

£45-55k depending on skills & experience.
