Lukasz joined NORCO as a trainee GRP laminator with little experience of laminating. He was placed within our skilled laminating department to learn on-the-job rather than spend time on the training bench. Due to Lukasz’s excellent attitude and willingness to learn, he progressed through his traineeship within 3 weeks and was offered a full-time position as a GRP laminator at NORCO GRP.
Lukasz has been with us since January 2017 and has excelled. Within a few months he progressed to different sized jobs and has become an important member of our laminating team.
“I have found learning & working at NORCO easy because I was taught by the right people with the right skills. Day-to-day there no stress and the people are really friendly and helpful. I would recommend NORCO to anyone who is looking to learn a new skill.”
Special Projects Supervisor
James joined NORCO in 2005 after relocating from Southampton, where he worked as a laminator for the last 8 years. He was previously involved on a variety of different mouldings ranging from bus stop seats & roofs to roof dormers & deep-sea buoys. James was looking for a new challenge and felt that NORCO’s ties with the marine industry was the step-up that he was seeking. Having never worked with the different materials, processes, and quality of finish that is required for the marine sector, he believed that NORCO offered him an opportunity to progress his skill set.
James worked as a GRP laminator for 3 years while he continuing to develop with the help of NORCO. Over this period, he gained valuable work experience and achieved NVQ level 2 & 3 in team leading and management. From James’ hard work and can-do attitude, he was given the opportunity to lead a team as a special projects supervisor. The purpose of James’ current management position is to expand the client base of the GRP side of the business.
James enjoys the daily challenges that arise when working on the projects that he is looking after and the satisfaction of resolving these issues.
“Working at NORCO, I get most pleasure from seeing our mouldings going out of the door. They have been built and finished to a quality level, that in my opinion, is higher than most of our competitors and certainly the best that I have seen.”
Jason is an established member of the NORCO family, having served over 14 years as a GRP laminator. He was the first NORCO employee to get an NVQ through our in-house training centre in Marine Composites. Formally working in double glazing manufacturing for doors & windows, he wanted a change of career and found that NORCO offered him an excellent opportunity to learn a new trade and gain a qualification at the same time.
Jason describes NORCO as a safe and stable place to work. From his 14 years of employment, he believes that the company has always been moving forward and growing, which gives him the confidence of job security and work variation.
“NORCO offers a great place to learn and develop. My son plans to go through the training centre here at NORCO. Once he is trained, he has a skill set for life.”
Simon worked his way up to Production Manager throughout his 18 years with NORCO. He started out by gaining knowledge as a laminator of mouldings & processes. From of Simon’s commitment and drive, he continued to progress to a supervisor and now into management position.
He believes NORCO offers the opportunity for employees to progress within the company in roles and skills training. Simon continues to describe how NORCO offer the staff many benefits in the form of production incentives, team building days out and financial savings across a wide range of items and events. He likes the freedom and trust that he is given within the company to be able to manage the customer, production and people in the best way he feel works.
“NORCO is a thriving company. The hours, days and years fly by, with every day full on and not a moment to stand still, which can only be a good thing.”
